SINCE THE FALL OF 2014, THE GEORGIA MARKET OF THE POSITIVE ATHLETE PROGRAM HAS BEEN IN OPERATION, RECOGNIZING THE PEACH STATE'S MOST POSITIVE ATHLETES AND COACHES. EVERY YEAR SINCE 2016, OVER 5,000 STUDENT-ATHLETES AND COACHES HAVE BEEN NOMINATED FROM OVER 425 GEORGIA HIGH SCHOOLS, MAKING GEORGIA THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MARKET IN THE POSITIVE ATHLETE FAMILY.
AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS
For the tenth consecutive year, Positive Athlete, an organization started by former UGA Football star and Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward, will be awarding college scholarships to Georgia high school student-athletes based more on their character than their athletic performance. Over $350,000 in college scholarships have been awarded since the Georgia program’s inception. Thank you to our partners who make this program happen year after year!
GAMER AWARD
Two, $1,000 college scholarships given to the high school student-athletes who show up when people in their school or community are in need. NOTE: These scholarships are available state-wide.
HOPE & WILL AWARD
Five, $1,000 college scholarships given to the student-athletes who represented a Hopeful attitude and strong Will for their team, school and community.
NOTE: These scholarships are available in Cobb, Atlanta, NW ATL, North ATL & South ATL regions.
WELLNESS AMBASSADORS AWARD
Available to the 50 participating Positive Athletes in the WellStar Positive Athlete Ambassador program with elementary schools. NOTE: These scholarships are available in Cobb, Northwest ATL, North ATL, Atlanta, South ATL & West GA regions.
LEADERSHIP AWARD
Five, $1,000 college scholarships given to student-athletes who have shown exceptional leadership skills at their school and in their community. NOTE: These scholarships are available in Cobb, Gwinnett, Northwest ATL, North ATL, & Atlanta regions.
POSITIVE ENERGY AWARD
Two, $1,000 college scholarships given to student-athletes who brought positive energy to every practice and competition. NOTE: These scholarships are available in Cobb and Northwest ATL regions.
MAKE YOU SMILE AWARD
One, $1,000 college scholarship given to a student-athlete whose positive attitude and dependability makes everyone they interact with smile. NOTE: This scholarship is available in the Gwinnett County Region.
POSITIVE ATHLETE AWARD
Two, $1,000 college scholarships given to a Georgia male and female tennis athletes who impact lives and foster relationships in their community. NOTE: These scholarships are available state-wide
LEGACY AWARD
Four, $1,000 college scholarships given to the Positive Athletes that are the child of a high school coach, and are great representatives of the lasting legacy of their parent. NOTE: These scholarships are available state-wide.
DO AMAZING THINGS AWARD
Four, $1,000 college scholarships given to the Positive Athletes that make it a priority to do amazing things in their schools and communities. NOTE: These scholarships are available in the South Atlanta and Northwest Atlanta Regions.
PAVING THE WAY AWARD
One, $1,000 college scholarship given to a Positive Athlete nominee who is paving the way for themselves and others by showing a positive attitude. NOTE: This scholarship is available state-wide
COMMUNITY HERO AWARD
Two, $1,000 college scholarships given to a male and female student-athlete that is making a huge impact by giving back to their community. NOTE: These scholarships are available State-Wide.
