This is the birthplace of Positive Athlete. Since 2011, the Western PA market of the Positive Athlete program has been in operation, recognizing the Pittsburgh area's most positive athletes and coaches, alongside former Pittsburgh Steeler star and Super Bowl MVP, Hines Ward.

One, $2,500 college scholarship given to the female high school student-athlete who O.P.E.R.A.T.E.S. with all Seven Definitions of a Positive Athlete in the Northeast Region.

MALE O.P.E.R.A.T.E. AWARD

One, $2,500 college scholarship given to the male high school student-athlete who O.P.E.R.A.T.E.S. with all Seven Definitions of a Positive Athlete in the Northeast Region.

UPMC COMEBACK PLAYER AWARD

Two, $1000 college scholarships awarded to a Positive High School male and female athlete who has exemplified courage, determination, and positivity in the face of adversity while overcoming a sport related injury
