The Britt Kearce Memorial Scholarship is proud to announce a transformative partnership with Positive Athlete, the national recognition and leadership development program for high school student-athletes. This collaboration will celebrate exceptional character and positive impact among baseball players throughout Georgia while significantly expanding scholarship opportunities for deserving young athletes.
Through this partnership, the organizations will jointly recognize the Baseball Positive Athlete of the Year for Georgia, an honor that celebrates a high school baseball player who exemplifies outstanding character, leadership, and community impact both on and off the field. The recipient will receive a $3,000 scholarship to support their educational pursuits.
"Britt Kearce was more than a coach—he was a mentor who poured into young lives and instilled values that extended far beyond the baseball diamond," said Matt Reeves, representing the Britt Kearce Memorial Scholarship. "This partnership with Positive Athlete allows us to honor his legacy by recognizing athletes who embody the same dedication, positivity, and commitment to making a difference that Coach Kearce exemplified every day."
In addition to the Baseball Positive Athlete of the Year award, the partnership will provide two additional $3,000 scholarships to exceptional baseball players who demonstrate the core values both organizations champion: love for the game, commitment to self-improvement, and positive influence in their communities.
The initiative aims to increase baseball nominations across Georgia through Positive Athlete's established platform, which has recognized over 5,000 student-athletes annually in the state since 2016. Any adult can nominate a deserving high school baseball player in grades 9-12 from any public or private school throughout Georgia.
"We are honored to partner with the Britt Kearce Memorial Scholarship," said Andy Williams, Director of Southeast for Positive Athlete. "This collaboration perfectly aligns with our mission to spotlight young athletes who demonstrate the character traits that make our communities stronger. Coach Kearce's legacy of service and positive impact lives on through this partnership, and we're excited to help celebrate Georgia's most positive baseball players."
Georgia has been one of Positive Athlete's most successful markets since launching in 2014, with participation from over 425 high schools statewide. This partnership strengthens the organization's commitment to recognizing athletes who may not always appear in the stat sheets but consistently demonstrate leadership, resilience, and a commitment to lifting others up.
Nominations for the 2026 awards cycle opened in early September and run through April 15, 2026. All nominated baseball players will automatically be eligible for applicable scholarships and recognition through both organizations.
"Britt believed in the transformative power of baseball and the importance of recognizing young people for who they are, not just what they achieve," added Reeves. "Through this partnership, we're ensuring that his spirit of encouragement and investment in youth continues to inspire the next generation of leaders."
