Positive Athlete has established the Tayden Ripple Effect Award in memory of Tayden Tomblin, a Santa Barbara teenager who passed away after a skateboarding accident on Thanksgiving Day. Tayden had been nominated for recognition before his death, and his family embraced the idea of a lasting honor in his name for the program's Los Angeles region. The award goes each year to a student-athlete navigating a disability who creates connection, belonging, and positivity for others while facing challenges of their own. Its first recipient is Viewpoint sophomore Marin Purdy, with a permanent memorial also taking shape at San Marcos High School.
